Cookie Policy

Cookies and local storage are what let your bag survive a page change, keep you signed in and tell us which pieces people are looking for. This page lists everything we use, and gives you the controls.

Provider details on this page still contain placeholders. They must be completed with the company's real registered details before the store relies on this document.

01

Cookies, local storage, and how we treat them

A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep. Local storage is a similar space in your browser, used for slightly larger bundles of information. In the EU and the UK, storing or reading information on your device requires your consent unless it is strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for. We follow that rule literally: the strictly necessary items run regardless, everything optional waits for your consent.

02

Strictly necessary — no consent needed

  • Session and sign-in — a token that keeps you logged in and protected while you move between pages, and that lets the store show your own orders and loyalty tier.
  • Your bag — the pieces, sizes and colours you have chosen, so the bag survives a page change or a return visit on the same device.
  • Your cookie choice — we record whether you accepted or rejected optional storage, so we do not ask again on every page. Kept for six months, then we ask afresh.
  • Security — short-lived records used to detect abuse and to protect forms from automated submission.

These are provided by us and by our hosting and checkout providers on our instruction. They contain no advertising identifiers, and they cannot be switched off without breaking the store — which is why the law treats them as necessary.

03

Preferences — kept on your device only

  • Your chosen language and display currency, so the store opens the way you left it.
  • Your wishlist and the pieces you recently viewed, so you can find them again. This list stays in your browser; it is not sent to us as a profile.
  • Accessibility preferences, such as increased contrast.

Clearing your browser storage removes all of these. Nothing here identifies you to anyone else.

04

Analytics — only with your consent

If you accept, the store records aggregate statistics: which pages and pieces are viewed, how a visit moves through the store, the device and browser type, the referring page, and the rough country of origin. This helps us decide what to make next and where the store is slow or hard to use. The statistics are held in aggregate for twelve months and are not used to build an advertising profile of you.

If you reject — or accept and later withdraw — the analytics module is not started at all, and no statistics are gathered. Nothing else on the store stops working.

05

What we do not use

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies, and no advertising pixels from third-party networks.
  • No cross-site tracking, and no sale or sharing of your data for behavioural advertising anywhere.
  • No social plug-ins that load before you interact with them. The links to our social profiles in the footer are plain links — nothing is requested from those platforms unless you click.
06

Change or withdraw your choice

Your current choice: No choice made yet. You can change it here at any time — withdrawing consent is exactly as easy as giving it.

Changing your choice reloads the page once, so the analytics module starts or stops immediately. The choice itself stays on your device.

07

Browser-level controls

Every browser lets you block cookies outright, delete those already stored, and clear local storage — usually under Settings, Privacy, or Site Data. Blocking everything will sign you out, empty your bag and lose your wishlist each time you return, because those features depend on strictly necessary storage. Your browser may also offer a global opt-out signal; we treat a recorded rejection as covering analytics.

08

Third parties, and questions

Our hosting, checkout and production partners set their own storage during checkout, strictly to process your payment and the order, and their notices describe it. Everything we use, and the purposes, are described in the Privacy Policy. Questions about this page: hopiumstore@gmail.com.
